The Central Government of India is considering to launch Ujjwala Plus Yojana which will be launched for increasing the coverage of its ambitious scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the government provides free liquefied petroleum gas connections to women belonging to the below-poverty-line category as per the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was firlstly launched by the PM Modi at Ballia Uttar Pradesh.
According to the petroleum and natural gas ministry, there are many eligible families which are left out of the SECC due to technical reasons.
The main motto behind the launching of Ujjwala Plus Yojana is to extend the benefit of the families which were deprived of PM Ujjwala Yojana. Besides this, under this new scheme (Ujjwala Plus Yojana), the individuals and organizations will be allowed to make donations for the scheme.
According to the sources, the government has sanctioned about 8,000 crores for reaching 5 crore beneficiaries in three years under PMUY.
The Ujjwala Plus Yojana will be similar to the PM Ujjwala Yojana as under this new scheme, beneficiaries will be given a subsidy of `1,600 for an LPG connection and the remaining amount of the total cost of around `3,100 will have to be borne by the beneficiary.
Besides this, if an individual wants to donate the full amount for a particular beneficiary, she/he will be allowed to do so. Bulk donations will be used for other beneficiaries identified by the petroleum ministry.
The Central Government of India is expected to announce the launch of Ujjwala Plus Yojana on the occasion of Independence Day i.e. 15th August.
