PM Ujjwala Yojana Assam – In Sonitpur District of Assam, about 16,000 women have been identified as beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).

The main motto of the scheme is to provide a safeguard to the health of women and children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel.

Today, the MP of Tezpur Lok Sabha MP R P Sharma has provided LPG Gas Connections to the 21 women at a function organized under the aegis of the district administration and the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwalka Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narender Modi at the Ballia Uttar Pradesh. This scheme was launched especially for women.

According to the IOC area manager, Gajen Pathak the verification process was still going on and the 16,000 selected beneficiaries will get the connection through their respective dealers.

He stated that so far about 28,000 PMUY applications had been received from the beneficiaries in the district.
