PM Ujjwala Yojana – Yesterday, the Central Government’s ambitious scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ was launched in Kamrup (Metro) district at an event held at the Khanapara Veterinary College ground.
During this launching program, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the both the governments i.e (State and Central) are taking various steps for all-round development of the rural women belonging to the below poverty line (BPL) segment.
The PM Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was firstly launched in Ballia Uttar Pradesh by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narender Modi in 2015. Under this scheme, the women from the poor BPL families are provided LPG gas connections by the government of India. During its first launch in Ballia Uttar Pradesh, the target of providing 5 crore gas connections to the BPL families was set.
This scheme was launched with an aim of providing a healthy environment to the women of the nation. Women use wood, kerosene, coal etc raw materials for cooking food. These raw materials cause harmful gases which is very bad for their health.
In the Kamrup District, the target of providing LPG gas connections to about 30,000 families has been set. Besides this, 10 beneficiaries were ceremonially provided LPG connections yesterday.
