Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana – The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi recently informed that the Central Government has distributed a total number of 10 crore LPG connections in four years. Of the total 10 Crore BPL Connection, 4 crore free LPG connection are provided to poor women under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana of which 45 percent beneficiaries are Dalits and tribals resulting in a “big social transformation”.

The Central Government aims to increase liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) utilization for covering 80 percent of the families by March 2019, against 72.8 percent in 2017. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not give a date for achieving the 100 percent coverage target.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Central Government provides a subsidy of Rs 1,600 to state-owned fuel retailers for every free LPG connection installed in poor rural households without one. The main motive of the state government providing this subsidy is to cover the security fee for the cylinder and the fitting charges. The beneficiary has to buy her own cooking stove and refills.
On completion of four years of government, PM Modi addressed beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme on Monday. After this, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, talked to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the bright scheme which has strengthened the women.
Let me tell you that PM Modi addressed the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme. Addressing the beneficiaries, PM Modi said that the Ujjwala scheme has given the power to the lives of poor, socially, dalit and tribals.
