Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Karnataka – The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has taken decision for providing Deposit Free BPL Connections to all the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in Karnataka by December 2018. Under the scheme, the Ministry will provide free LPG connections to all BPL families.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Central Government received a total number of 20,40,826 applications in Karnataka. Out of these applications, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry has already cleared 15,94,439 applications.
The Director (LPG), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. K M Mahesh said that the Ministry will cover the remaining applications by December 2018.
Karnataka State stands on 12th number among all states with 2,040,826 applications. Apart from this, the Uttar Pradesh stands on the top of the country with 12,084,879 applications, followed by Bihar (10,496,175) and West Bengal (8,482,638).
In Karnataka State, the Tumakuru City tops the list with 1,12,926 applications, followed by Raichur (1,11,262) and Balagavi (91,214). While Kodagu came at the bottom with just 3,914 applications, Dakshina Kannada received 13,693 applications and Bengaluru 13,358 applications.
Recently, the Hon’ble Loksabha Speaker Smt Sumitra Mahajan provided 5 croreth LPG connection to Smt Takrdiran of Delhi in the Parliament House under the Central Government’s ambitious scheme i.e. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY). With this, the Central Government has achieved its target of providing 5 Crore Gas Connections to the women of the nation women were still using raw coal, wood etc. for making food. This ambitious step was taken by the central Government for providing a safe enviorment to the women and to reduce the pollution created by burning fossil fuels.
